Pinktober : Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Salam ladies! It's pinktober which is breast cancer awareness month. Ok serious question, how many of you have ever checked yourself for any signs of breast cancer? If you think you're too young to get breast cancer, think again.

As women, it is very important to take care of our body, but how do we do that if we don't even know what's going on inside of our body? That is why early detection is crucial and may just save your life/life of your loved ones.

So ladies, get educated about this disease and spread the awareness! Spreading awareness can help other women to check themselves for breast cancer through a few easy steps or tests.

1) What is breast cancer?

Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that starts in the cells of the breast. A malignant tumor is a group of cancer cells that can grow into (invade) surrounding tissues or spread (metastasize) to distant areas of the body. The disease occurs almost entirely in women, but men can get it, too.

2) What are the risk factors that causes breast cancer?

Risk factors that cannot be changed
• Being a woman
• Increasing age
• Early menarche (start of menstruation) before age 12
• Late menopause (stop of menstruation) after age 55
• Family history of breast cancer
• Personal history of breast cancer

Risk factors that are lifestyle related
• Having had no children or late pregnancies after age 35
• Oral contraceptive use
• Hormone replacement therapy
• Alcohol consumption
• Obesity and high-fat diets
• Physical inactivity

3) Detection methods and seeking appropriate treatment.

• Ensure that you do Breast Self Examinations (BSE)
every month.
• Encourage those over the age of 40 to go for a mammogram.
• Immediately have them see a specialist should there be any abnormalities
discovered during a BSE or mammogram.
• Obtain more information and seek out support from groups, friends and
the community.

4) Are there any preventive methods?

A nutritious, low-fat diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables can help reduce the risk of developing
breast cancer. A high-fat diet increases the risk because fat triggers estrogen production that can fuel
tumour growth.

5) What are the myths about breast cancer?

All breast lumps are cancerous
• 9 out of 10 of these lumps are not cancerous (benign).
• However, it’s best that you check with your doctor right away if you do
find a lump.
I am not at risk because no one in my family has breast cancer
• About 10% of all breast cancer cases have a hereditary factor
• Hence, that leaves 90% of cases without family history.

Fuchsia Flare

Can you believe how fast time flies? I'm already 32 weeks today Alhamdulillah! Before you know it, my husband and I will be welcoming our second baby into the family, insyaAllah!! I'm happy and nervous at the same time. Thinking back on my first experience is giving me mixed feelings. But I believe in Allah's plan and put my trust in Him. InsyaAllah everything will be ok. According to the last scan, we're having a girl this time tehee^_^ but sometimes scans have proven to be wrong so you never know!

If it is a girl, I can't wait to dress her up in cute little tutu dresses and LBD's! haha. I think it's just natural to dream of dressing a mini you, right? Anyway, It's been quite some time since my last outfit post, no? When you're heavily pregnant, it really is hard to look decent or find something that doesn't make you look like a whale, if you know what I mean(no offence to whales). Most of the time I feel most comfortable in a maxi dress because it's easier to move and work in.

This maxi dress from Misclaire is one of my favorites because it has these cute ruffle sleeve details. Kinda makes me want to just twirl and do the salsa for no reason. I've said this many times, I'm not a fan of pink though(because I think it's just too girly for my personality) so as far as girly goes, fuchsia is my best bet. I just love this site because it's an online website that caters for plus size women. If you can't seem to find anything fancy in your size. Just head over to Misclaire and you'll find a variety of plus size clothing ranging from maxi dresses, skirts, jackets, pants and so much more!

Hope you have a lovely and productive week and remember to keep me in your duaas!:))

Denim Galore

I've always been a big fan of denim ever since I could even remember. There's just something about it that appeals to all ages and style preference. Perhaps it's also the fact that denim is not only comfortable to wear, it's one of the most long-lasting, tear-resistant material there is. Not to mention it never goes out of style!

So I came up with 3 different themed looks from my favorite GUESS denim that might give you ladies some ideas how to pair your denim in a more creative way! So here goes!

1. Romantic Dinner

For this occasion, of course you want to go with something sweet and feminine. But being the not so girly-girl that I am, I always like to add a little spunk to my outfit through vibrant colours! So what I did was I paired my Charlotte denim shirt with a neon shirt underneath and rolled up the sleeves to give it a little pop of colour. Finished the look with an electric blue skirt, neon necklace and a printed clutch!

What I love about this Charlotte shirt from GUESS is it's beautiful faded colour and it's light material. When I was out to dinner with hubby in two layers, I still felt cool despite the hot Malaysian weather!
Oh and I love that it doesn't have those clip on buttons and uses these button instead. Give it a nice neat finish.

Feminine, yet not too girlish. Just the way I like it! :)

2. Night Out Party With Friends

For my second look, I was thinking of something simple yet glamorous. And nothing shouts 'GLAM' more than some sequins! All girls love things that are shiny and sparkle, yes? So I paired my Kate Capri white jeans with a white shirt, matching black hijab, heels and clutch. Topped it off with a sequin jacket and I'm ready to party!

These white jeans really appealed to me because of it's cut. It has a low cut and is a little shorter than the normal boot cut or skinny cut. It's suitable for people like me who aren't very tall(157cm!). Plus it let's me flaunt my super gorgeous heels! Tehee!

A little bling never hurt anyone:P

3. Music Festival

When going to an event out in the open and with a big crowd, you are bound to to feel uncomfortable. So you wouldn't want to wear something that makes you even more uncomfortable. So my choice would be something laid-back and loose, making it easy to move around feel breezy. I wore a printed top paired with my Charlotte shirt worn as a jacket and neutral colours for my hijab and bag. A sling would be best because you wouldn't have to hold it all day!

I love how versatile this shirt is and how it can be mixed and matched to suit any occassion, really! You could even pair it with a pencil skirt and wear it to work! The pockets add seams make it even more cute!

comfort is the way to go!

It was fun playing dress up and coming up with these looks using my GUESS denim. Perhaps in the future I'll create more looks featuring denim pieces because it is SO VERSATILE. Which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments section!:))

Sweet 26

On 27th June 2014, I officially turned 26. Warghhhhh I feel so old. However, I had such a wonderful time spending it with my loved ones, Alhamdulillah. My family held a pre-birthday 'makan-makan' for me and my sister since her birthday falls on the 24th June. We've always celebrated our birthday together every year. So that's always fun!:D

Meanwhile on my birthday, hubby had planned a romantic dinner for us to enjoy. It's been quite a while since our last dinner date together just the two of us(you know, I mean after having Juhd tehee). We had a nice dinner buffet at B's Pullman Putrajaya with a beautiful night view of the Putrajaya Lakeside. Very romantic indeed<3 <3 <3

The buffet starts at 6.30pm - 10.30pm but we had our maghrib prayers first before heading to hotel at about 7.45pm.

The beautiful lakeside view
My knight in shining armor<3 ;)

For our romantic dinner, I opted to wear my new Charlotte denim shirt from GUESS. I love this shirt because of it's faded color and how comfortable and light the denim material is. I was actually wearing another cotton shirt inside and I still felt warm despit our Malaysian heat!

Paired my denim shirt with a neon shirt underneath to give it a little spunk. An electric blue pleated skirt and a neon necklace completed the fun and comfortable look. Oh and not forgetting my printed clutch!

Now moving on to our dinner. The dinner buffet is priced at RM68++ per pax and includes a wide selection of food including Malay, Indian, and international cuisines. Some of the food selection included Nasi Beriani, a variety of Malay Lauk, Indian dishes, noodles- (the mee kari was one of my favorites!), Roasted Lamb, Pizza, Salads, few selection of Pastas, Yong Tau Foo, and of course desserts! Oh and just incase you are wondering, this place is certified halal.

Pizza, salad, roast lamb and sandwich.
Some of the desserts.
Our hungry faces.

This is all I managed to snap because I was too busy eating everything I didn't really bother to take more photos. Tehee. Afterwards we climbed up to the viewing tower to enjoy the beautiful view. It was a lovely night Alhamdulillah, thanks to hubby for such a wonderful night and pampering me on my birthday<3

I love you!!;)

Nora Danish x Fashion Valet Raya Collection 2014

I attended the Nora Danish for Fashion Valet Raya Collection recently and I strongly feel that it is a collection that everybody will definately love! The event was held at the White Box, Publika. The collection emphasized on the classic appeal and combination of black and white as it's basis.

An ode to the concept of ying and yang, black and white is the representation of strength and softness, traits rooted deep in women everywhere. The best part of the collection for me personally is that the pieces can be easily mixed and matched and worn as separates, giving customers the chance to experiment with fashion yet stay true to their personal style.

I had the chance of seeing the collection up-close and personal, and I have to say I was surprised that the collection is priced between RM180-RM250 only! What a good bargain for such a stunning collection and the high quality materials used. The collection will be released to the public from 1st July 2014 and features 8 beautiful designs in sizes XS-XL.

Ladies, feast your eyes on these classy pieces!

Such mezmerizing pieces, don't you think?

The two beautiful women behind the collaboration, Nora Danish and managing director of Fashion Valet, Vivy Yusof. Congrats on the great and affordable collection! I really can't wait for it's online release tomorrow!

Thank you for having me and looking forward to get myself a piece once it's released! Don't forget ladies! Be ready tomorrow! if you haven't subcribed, go subcribe to be the first to recieve updates!

With fellow blogger Shea Rasol and Nadia Sabrina

My oufit for the day featured DNAbyDynas nursing dress and KissandTell<3FV pumps, both from Fashion Valet :)

Bubblegum Love

Juhd's already 10 months Alhamdulillah!<3
Yesterday I attended one of my ex-uia studiomate wedding at KL Tower. It was indeed a very happening wedding. Quick shoutout to Naju & her spouse, may you have a blessed marriage filled with love and joy. And may Allah grant you pious offspring who will become the coolness of your eyes, ameeen!<3

I have been looking forward to attend this wedding since I couldn't wait to wear my gorgeous-ice-crean-adorned jelly shoes which smells of bubblegum! I got this exclusive Melissa+Karl Lagerfeld heels from none other than FashionValet

The shoes are without a doubt the most comfortable pair of heels I've ever owned. I also love how the design makes my huge duck feet look tiny! Major Love!! I wore a pink-themed outfit with a lace top! Ah-ha! Surprised? I know, it's so not me. LOL. But because I love you Naju, and you're the bride, I shed my edgy image for this oh-so-girly look! hehe anything for the bride they say!^_^

My scrumpious heels!
Please ignore my upside down clutch.(Pregnancy brain alert)

Till then!xx Ramadhan's just around the corner! Let's gather some stamina from now to increase our ibadah, insyaAllah. Don't wait till the last minute kay?:))

Boho Babe

Before I go into my outfit details, something funny happened right after my husband took this styleshot. So there's this place near our house where we I love to take pictures because it's kind of secluded so no one will give you that weird look when you're taking styleshots bahahaha.

But right after taking these few shots, we got chased by two freakin' dogs! I ran like crazy and totally left Juhd with hubby behind. I freaked out and went straight to the car(i know, worst mom ever!) instead of bringing Juhd with me. Thank goodness hubby kept calm and didn't run. He was protecting Juhd in his stroller and stood still which I think scared the dogs away. Pheww!

The end.

Anyway, my maxi dress and knit cardigan are both from Fashion Valet. I absolutely love this style for maternity wear. It's super comfy for my growing tummy yet effortlessly stylish. This maxi dress is designed for nursing mommies but it's a little bit sexy to wear on it's own so I paired it with this Boho knit cardigan. Perfect match don't you think?:)

Till then! Be safe and watch out for angry dogs! Tehee!xx

A Letter For Ami

Dear Ami,

I still remember the first time we met like it was yesterday. It was at the Maysaa-Yuna event at Publika back in 2010. You were shy but still so sweet when we took a picture together. It wasn't until I found out you lived in Bandar Baru Bangi that we became close friends. We had lived only a neighborhood apart. You would always ring me up and ask if I wanted to attend this event and that event together. I would always say yes if I didn't have any other plans and got excited to have you as my 'teman' to media events. We'd always discuss what we were going to wear the night before and I would go fetch you at your apartment the next day since you didn't drive.

Before I actually got to know you on a more personal level, I saw you as this reserved, almost too serious person. But event after event, it came to my senses that you were the most friendly, funny, quirky and kind-hearted person, masyaAllah.

Remember how we used to borrow each others stuff to wear to media events, and that time we got lost at the parking basement after IFF? I took my heels off and walked barefoot because my feet hurt so bad. Then you joked about feeling like a camel in your bulky wedges and did a camel walk which cracked me up so hard! I was literally in tears laughing! As tired as you were, you kept cheering me up with your wit and humor. I always felt comfortable and warm in your presence. It's one of your many traits that make you so lovable.

I've had nothing but great times and sweet memories with you, my dear Ami. I've admired and followed your fashion evolution, cheered for your victory battling leukemia and adored your kindness and positivity. It would break my heart every time I'd see an update regarding your health that wasn't too good. But because you were so positive and vibrant all the time, I would always tell myself, "Ami's going to be ok.." and that we'd attend more events together like always.

That all changed when I read in our scarflets whatsapp group that you were having difficulty breathing and that you haven't been able to sleep well at all. I knew that something was terribly wrong. As much as I hoped the best for you, deep down I somehow knew that this time wouldn't be the same. That day I wanted to visit you but Naz posted that you needed your rest and visits might make you even more tired. So I waited.

But as I got more heartbreaking updates, I felt like going straight to you to hug you. In our whatsapp group everyone was sharing and talking about how you were doing because we were all so worried about you. That's when I also learned that you already had a lung infection and was on morphine and oxygen support. I was very emotional not only because of you, but I just got the news that my grandmother was in critical condition after suffering a heart attack earlier in the morning. The fear of losing two people that I love was too painful to bear.

I couldn't stop thinking of you that day so I started sketching this and wanted to give it to you the next day when I visited you...

" Sputnik Sweethaert"

But I was too late..:'(

That night we got the last text from your number

Ami dah pergi. Semoga dia ditempatkan di tempat orang-orang yang beriman.
26/03/2014 - 1.29am
- Naz -

My tears fell down like a waterfall. I didn't want to believe it was true. I kept hoping that I was in some kind of dream and waited for someone to wake me up.

But then I realized that that's life. It's all temporary. Nothing is ours. Everything and everyone will leave us one day. Qada' and Qadar. To Allah we all belong and to Him we return.

I've had the best time knowing you and I can't express enough how thankful I am to Allah s.w.t to have let me 'borrow' you all these years. You've inspired so many and you're still loved by many. People from all over the world are keeping you in their duaas and praising you. That's how special you are and how big of a positive impact your spirit has made.

Dear Ami,

I hope you are no longer in pain, and happy up there. Even though you're gone, I feel like you are still here, your presence, your smile, your positivity continues to live in all of us. One day we will meet again my friend, one day.

I miss you dearly.

O Allaah, forgive and have mercy upon her, excuse her and pardon her, and make honorable her reception. Expand her entry, and cleanse her with water, snow, and ice, and purify her of sin as a white robe is purified of filth. Exchange her home for a better home, and her family for a better family, and her spouse for a better spouse. Admit her into the Garden, protect her from the punishment of the grave and the torment of the Fire.

Ameen.

Every time I close my eyes I see you in front of me
I still can hear your voice calling out my name
And I remember all the stories you told me
I miss the time you were around
But I’m so grateful for every moment I spent with you
‘Cause I know life won’t last forever..

You went so soon, so soon
You left so soon, so soon.

I have to move on ’cause I know it’s been too long
I’ve got to stop the tears, keep my faith and be strong
I’ll try to take it all, even though it’s so hard
I see you in my dreams but when I wake up you are gone..

Gone so soon..

Night and day, I still feel you are close to me
And I remember you in every prayer that I make
Every single day may you be shaded by His mercy
But life is not the same, and it will never be the same
But I’m so thankful for every memory I shared with you
‘Cause I know this life is not forever..

You went so soon, so soon
You left so soon, so soon..

I have to move on ’cause I know it’s been too long
I’ve got to stop the tears, keep my faith and be strong
I’ll try to take it all, even though it’s so hard
I see you in my dreams but when I wake up you were gone..

There were days when I had no strength to go on
I felt so weak and I just couldn’t help asking: “Why?”
But I got through all the pain when I truly accepted
That to God we all belong, and to Him we’ll return..

You went so soon, so soon
You left so soon, so soon..

I have to move on ’cause I know it’s been too long
I’ve got to stop the tears, keep my faith and be strong
I’ll try to take it all, even though it’s so hard
I see you in my dreams but when I wake up you are gone..
Gone so soon..

Kanebo Lunasol 15th Anniversary

Earlier this month I attended Kanebo Lunasol's 15th anniversary at the Kampachi restaurant located at Plaza 33 Petaling Jaya. Lunasol from Kanebo Cosmetics is a popular and innovative makeup brand originating from Japan since 1999. The makeup brand has been extremely well received by Malaysian women who seek to enhance their natural beauty and inner confidence!

Lunasol holds true to a concept that truly understands what it takes to be beautiful. Inspired by the Japanese culture, Lunasol combines refined traditions with modern technology. As a result, women who choose this makeup brand are able to exude beauty from within and carry a natural glow.

Lunasol is the combination of the words Luna(moon) and Sol(sun). Playing with the concept of light and shadow, response and motion, it portrays the many mysteries a women possesses.

Upon arriving to the venue, I was warmly ushered inside and was entertained by the plucking sounds of the Koto, a traditional Japanese musical instrument. As I walked around, there were stations with origami demonstrations and not forgetting the Furoshiki.

After stepping away from the stations, my attention was easily diverted to the amazing range of cosmetic products on the display. I simply couldn't wait to try it on my own!

This set in particular(above picture) had me really interested : The Kanebo Lunasol 15th Anniversary Makeup Palette. It is the latest product that was designed especially to commemorate this 15th year anniversary of Kanebo Lunasol. The retail price is RM368 and is already available since March 2014!

The set comprises of different beige tones, perfect to for a natural look that emphasis on natural skin beauty. This is definitely a must-have makeup set for makeup addicts who love to experiment with makeup and love a beautiful natural finish. The palette also features 6 coloured eyeshadows, a micro finished pressed powder, the duo cheeks blusher, the liquid lips lipstick and high stylized mascara. everything you need ll in one set! how convenient! The palette is even encased in an elegant golden pouch.

From right, my sister Fatimah, Ami and Jezmine:)
